July Reflections, Nasya Magic & What’s Coming Next
Hello dear community,
What a month July has been! Full, beautiful, a little chaotic at times, but always rich with connection, nature, healing, and the little joys that make life feel alive and sacred.
Between seeing clients for deeply nourishing full-body massages and offering the beautiful Nasya therapy, I’ve had the honour of meeting new faces, committed clients who are truly ready to walk their care plans with devotion and trust. This brings me so much joy and purpose. It reminds me why I began this path of Ayurveda in the first place…to support and walk beside you in your healing journey.
Among all the clinic activity, I also carved out a truly divine camping trip with my boys and dear friends at Minnie Waters National Park. The trees, the ocean, the laughter, the simplicity… all felt like the perfect antidote to our fast-paced world. My soul sister Pauline and I kept saying “Divine!” every day, and it was exactly that. Nature just has this way of filling you back up again.
Of course, as real life would have it, we also had our share of tummy bugs moving through the family (it’s always when you slow down that things move, right?). But it came with its own lessons in rest and recalibration. I also cherished the time with my beloved in-laws, who came to stay while the kids were on school holidays. It was a reminder of how special it is to have support and shared memories across generations.
And then, I realised, I hadn’t been here, connecting with you all, my beautiful community. I missed this space. So here I am again, back to sharing, and I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little more about the therapy I’ve been offering often this season: Nasya.
What is Nasya?
Nasya is a deeply restorative Ayurvedic therapy where warm herbal oils are administered into the nostrils after a specific preparation involving massage and steam. It’s one of Ayurveda’s five primary cleansing techniques (Panchakarma) and is especially powerful for clearing the sinuses, lubricating the nasal passages, calming the nervous system, and supporting mental clarity.
It’s a beautiful therapy for headaches, sinus congestion, brain fog, sleep issues, and emotional heaviness. The nose is considered the direct gateway to the brain and consciousness, so working with this area through Nasya brings profound mental and emotional balance.
Why is Nasya so perfect now?
Nasya is particularly beneficial in winter and early spring, when Vata and Kapha tend to accumulate in the head and chest, making us feel foggy, congested, or emotionally flat. It also helps prepare us for the upcoming transitions in season, clearing away what’s no longer needed.
If you’re travelling soon, especially flying, I highly recommend Nasya before and after your trip. It not only boosts immunity and clears the sinuses (perfect for dry cabin air) but also helps reduce travel fatigue and protect the subtle channels (srotas) from imbalance.
A little surprise…
And finally, I want to share that from now on, the community special at VIDA Ayurveda will be shifting to another potent therapy called Kati Basti. I’ll tell you more about it very soon, but just know: if you’re feeling lower back pain, emotional depletion, or adrenal fatigue: you’re going to love it.
Thank you for reading and for being part of this journey with me. It’s always a gift to connect here, and I can’t wait to share more in the coming months.
Warmest blessings,
Mariana
